Four years of active duty with the U.S. Navy including three Mediterranean and six Caribbean cruises whetted my appetite for travel. A thirty-five year career of environmental health research provided many more opportunities for travel to exotic places around the globe including Scandinavia, the Czech Republic, Germany and many other parts of Europe. My final study was in the Bamen region of Inner Mongolia where the hands of time seemed to have stopped a thousand years ago. I plan to include images of these diverse lands on the travel pages of the gallery.
Alternatively, one need not travel long distances to find fascinating places to visit and shoot. The United States contain some of the most beautiful and varied scenery and natural treasures found anywhere on earth. Moreover, I have lived in North Carolina for thirty-five years and within this lovely state there is an infinite variety of habitats from the wide, sandy beaches of the Atlantic seashore to the rocky crests of the Smoky Mountains. The coastal, sandhill, piedmont and mountain regions of North Carolina offer exciting challenges to photographers of all ages and levels of sophistication. This gallery will include images from across the state and the nation.
While travel to the far corners of the world yields an incredibly rich palette for the eye and camera, I have found equally rich treasure in my own backyard and in countless walks along Bolin Creek. However, “travels” on these gallery pages are defined as outside the Bolin Creek corridor.
More images are coming soon.
